On June 12th, the new hall for intangible cultural heritage in Yueqing, Wenzhou opened its doors, marking a new cultural landmark and space for experiencing intangible heritage. The exhibition is themed"Inheriting the Craftsmanship and Clear Melodies of Yueqing", taking the essence of"regional characteristic intangible cultural heritage" and the perspective of"putting people first and conveying emotions through objects", connecting traditional culture, intangible heritage projects, inheritors, history, and customs, promoting the revitalization and utilization of intangible cultural heritage, and opening up a unique perception and experience of intangible heritage. The exhibition covers 1 item on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, 5 national-level intangible cultural heritage projects, 19 provincial-level projects, 108 municipal-level projects, and 165 county-level projects.
Yueqing, facing the Ou River and with Yandang Mountain to the west, has been home to countless talented craftsmen for thousands of years. They have created a splendid traditional folk culture represented by the"Five Golden Flowers" of Yueqing fine-line paper cutting, Yueqing boxwood carving, Yueqing dragon dance, blue clip-dyeing technique, and Yueqing jewelry dragon.
As early as 2011, the Yueqing Hall for Intangible Cultural Heritage was established, with 256 exhibits mainly displayed through physical objects and pictures. Over the years, through continuous exploration, more than 20 intangible heritage projects have been added to the list, along with 12 intangible heritage workshops and 3 Ouyue intangible heritage studios. In addition to adding more than 70 new works, the new hall also gives digital wings to thousands of years of intangible heritage. Combining dynamic performances with digital technology, audio-visual effects, and interactive immersion, the exhibition space showcases intangible heritage in a unique and modern way, integrating it into modern life and making it evergreen. The"Five Golden Flowers" are presented in 3D modeling, showcasing the creation process of Yueqing fine-line paper cutting, Yueqing boxwood carving, Yueqing dragon dance, blue clip-dyeing technique, and Yueqing jewelry dragon, using modern elements to interpret intangible heritage culture, highlighting the image of the works, optimizing the presentation effect, and presenting intangible heritage culture in a unique and beautiful way.
The immersive theater space is the most distinctive exhibition item in the hall, using a main screen, floor screen, and two-sided mirror to present a film divided into four chapters: Legendary Yueqing, Customs and Traditions, Joyful Harvest, and Songs and Dances of the Seasons. The film takes the development of Yueqing's legends, folk customs, material abundance, and cultural prosperity as the main line, extracting elements from the perspectives of"scenery, objects, and people", and using modern techniques such as light, particles, and matrix to interpret and reconstruct the Yueqing folk culture, creating a unique and new visual experience space.
The head of the Yueqing Cultural Heritage Protection Center stated that information is constantly changing, and the traditional intangible heritage industry must keep up with the times and constantly evolve. Yueqing adheres to the inheritance of Chinese culture and tells the story of China. By deeply cultivating the digital intangible heritage field with new technological means, traditional culture and modern art forms are constantly enriched, allowing intangible heritage to flourish in the new era and keeping pace with the times on the road to material and spiritual prosperity.
