On May 4, the Youth Day in China, with the spirit of struggle in the air, the 2024 National International Wrestling Championships opened at the Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center, gathering over 1,680 athletes from 148 teams nationwide to stage exciting battles.
At 9 a.m., the women’s 50kg, 53kg, and 55kg categories wrestling competitions first started. Each competition includes qualification, elimination, repechage, and final bouts. Four wrestling rings in the Center were simultaneously utilized, with pairs of wrestlers engaging in intense and thrilling battles. In the afternoon’s final bouts, accompanied by dazzling electronic fireworks, the finalists appeared in a glamorous manner full of ceremony.
Compared to 2023, this year’s venue is overall decorated in purple tones, with a giant screen set up for real-time replays, creating a strong atmosphere of competition.
The Championships, lasting for nine days, consists of three main disciplines: men’s freestyle, women’s, and Greco-Roman wrestling. On May 5, the women’s 57kg, 59kg, and 62kg categories wrestling competitions were held.(ZhongXin)
