Unlocking the Beauty of the Mountain: Yucang Mountain Scenic Area in Wenzhou's Cangnan to Develop into a Sports and Leisure Park

Exploring caves, traversing jungles, crossing mountains, and seeking ancient trails... Since late February, groups of mountaineering enthusiasts have been heading to the Yucang Mountain scenic area in Cangnan, Wenzhou, to measure out a 50-kilometer optimal mountaineering route, adding vitality to the tranquil forest. It is reported that Cangnan is transforming the Yucang Mountain scenic area into a sports and leisure park, promoting the construction of a park city, a sports city, and a scenic city in Cangnan.

Half the city is jade sea, half is mountain, with endless blue and green in Cangnan. Following the launch of the 168 Golden Coast tourism IP in 2023, Cangnan fully launched the transformation and upgrade of the Yucang Mountain scenic area in late February 2024. The plan is to make micro-improvements and refined enhancements through a"two-month sprint" focusing on environmental facility upgrades, characteristic industry implantation, and event promotion, to create a sports and leisure park for citizens and tourists to climb mountains, enjoy the scenery, cycle, and take vacations before the"May Day" holiday in 2024. The aim is to form a mountain tourism hotspot and to make the"Endless Blue and Green · Mountain and Sea Cangnan" tourism card well-known.

The Yucang Mountain scenic area is located more than 20 kilometers to the northwest of Cangnan County, and is a national forest park and a 4A-level tourist attraction, covering an area of 2,378.6 hectares with a forest coverage rate of 95.9%. The average summer temperature is below 25.4°C, earning it the reputation of a"natural oxygen bar" and a"summer retreat." The scenic area is known for its sunrise, sea of clouds, and strange rocks as the three wonders of the scenery, and has 108 scenic spots including mountains, stones, streams, waterfalls, lakes, and forests, possessing both grandeur and tranquil beauty, and can be considered a masterpiece of nature's craftsmanship.

To provide citizens and tourists with a refreshing and more comfortable initial travel experience, the transformation and upgrade action has listed the upgrading of environmental facilities in the scenic area as a basic task. This includes specific projects such as selecting mountaineering trails, constructing cycling lanes, transforming scenic roads, upgrading the distribution center, improving transportation facilities, and ensuring forest fire prevention, laying a solid foundation for subsequent activities.

The mountaineering trail is one of the important carriers to highlight the sports resources of the Yucang Mountain scenic area. Starting from the Yucang Mountain tourist distribution center, it circles around Yucang Mountain for 50 kilometers from west to east along forest roads and ancient trails, passing through scenic spots such as Yulong Lake, Qiadun Reservoir, Bazhai Li Ziyun Ying Flower Sea, Yucang Mountain scenic area, and Wanyao Ancient Village, before returning to the Yucang Mountain tourist distribution center. It is expected to take more than 10 hours to complete this mountaineering trail."Along the way, you will encounter mountains, lakes, forests, stones, waterfalls, and other landscapes one after another, with a village every 6 kilometers or so, which is both visually appealing and safe," said Chen Wuda, a member of the Cangnan County Mountaineering Association who participated in the selection of the mountaineering route. Ordinary citizens and tourists can choose to experience the joy of mountaineering and feel the beauty of Yucang based on their physical fitness and in groups. Currently, the mountaineering trail is being urgently cleared of weeds, installing signs, and building supply points, and is expected to welcome citizens and tourists in its original ecological appearance at the end of April.

The scenic road is also an important carrier for promoting sports experiences in the scenic area. To welcome the cycling race that will be held on the Qiaoyu Line of the scenic road in late April, the Qiaoyu Line is undergoing a full"facelift". On March 28th, nearly 90 workers were divided into construction teams for guardrail construction, road surface repair, ditch cleaning, and slope protection, working at twice the speed to ensure quality and meet deadlines, with an estimated completion of the 18.6-kilometer renovation task in another 20 days.

It is reported that Cangnan is closely monitoring key projects, accelerating construction progress, and coordinating issues in a timely manner through work mechanisms such as special teams, unified management tables, and weekly reports. The aim is to complete the environmental facility upgrades by April 30th and to polish the environmental foundation for the overall improvement of the scenic area.
