6th Zhejiang Guqin Art Festival and Inaugural "Chuwang Cup" Open in Longgang

On the evening of November 15th, the grand opening ceremony of the 6th Zhejiang Guqin Art Festival and the inaugural"Chuwang Cup" Chinese Yangtze River Delta Guqin Performance was held at the New City Grand Theater in Longgang City. Guqin performers, scholars, luthiers, and enthusiasts from all over China gathered in the hometown of Guo Chuwang, the founder of the Southern Song Zhe School of Guqin, to listen to the timeless sounds of this ancient national music and participate in a grand event celebrating the rich heritage of guqin.

The event, organized by the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association, Wenzhou Federation of Social Sciences, and the Wenzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, will run until November 17th. It includes three guqin concerts, the finals of the first"Chuwang Cup" Chinese Yangtze River Delta Guqin Performance, as well as master lectures, a symposium on Guo Chuwang’s guqin studies, and an exhibition of renowned luthiers' instruments. These activities provide a platform for extensive exchange among guqin artists, scholars, and enthusiasts.

Following the opening ceremony, the 14th"Zhe Di Qin Yun" Master Guqin Concert took place. The concert opened with a performance of"Xiao Xiang Shui Yun," a composition by Guo Chuwang, played by renowned guqin master Wu Yongzhi. His captivating performance transported the audience through time with the elegant sounds of the ancient instrument, evoking the sentiments of literati amidst the mists of Xiao Xiang. Subsequently, other masters such as Jiang Yanxi, Chen Danxia, Cao Yu, and Gao Shan performed beloved classics, immersing the audience in the profound history of traditional Chinese music. The lingering notes of the guqin provided a soul-cleansing experience during this"Guqin Night."

As one of the oldest and most representative musical instruments in China, the guqin serves not only as a medium for literati to express their emotions and cultivate their minds but also embodies the deep cultural spirit of Chinese civilization. This meticulously planned festival, commemorating the artistic legacy of Guo Chuwang, aims to further promote and preserve intangible cultural heritage. By bringing this event to Longgang, it enriches the city's cultural landscape, contributing to its development as a"Reform Famous City and Pearl of Ou Yue."(Xie Xiuchang)
