Wencheng, a summer resort full of lotus blossom

Wencheng County is entering the season of lotus blooming. More tourists choose it as their tour destination to escape the summer heat and enjoy the flowers.

Next to the public library of Zhourang town, there is a pool fully covered with green lotus leaves and interspersed with pink buds and white flowers. Red dragonflies perch atop the flowers sometimes. Such picturesque scene attracts numerous visitors. In Jiudu Village of Nantian Town, a lotus pond spanning about 4000 square meters is in the budding stage, with some flowers already in bloom. Zhao Hao, a local official notes these lotus ponds are among the largest in Wencheng. Full bloom is expected by mid-July, lasting for over 20 days. To get an ideal photo, visitors can get inspirations from nearby attractions such as ancient village, well and pavilion. He also says the best time to appreciate the lotus is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., considering the light and temperature.

The largest lotus pond of Wencheng is in Wuyang Village, Nantian Town, covering over 100 acres. Full bloom is anticipated in early August. Surrounding attractions such as Liuji Temple, Baizhangji Waterfall, Dayue Bay, and ancient villages in Wuyang and Shizhuang will see visitor surge in this coming summer. (ZhongXin)
