In recent events at the 2025 U15 World Secondary School Summer Games held in Zlatibor, a western city of Serbia, two young athletes from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, have achieved remarkable success. Zhou Zichun from Jiu Shan School (Wenzhou Sports School) claimed the gold medal in the boys' high jump with an impressive leap of 1.88 meters. Meanwhile, Chen Deyou from Longgang No. 3 Middle School Education Group contributed significantly to his team’s victory in the 4x100 meter relay race, securing another world championship for China.

From Zero to Hero: Zhou Zichun's Journey

Zhou Zichun, who entered Jiu Shan School in December 2022 as a sixth-grader, has transformed remarkably over just two years. Coach Bao Senlin recalls selecting Zhou based on outstanding physiological and bone age tests predicting a height of 1.90 meters, along with excellent physical coordination. Zhou's rapid mastery of high jump techniques was evident when he won the Chinese Secondary School Track and Field Elite Competition in January 2025 with a jump of 1.90 meters, earning him a spot on the national student team.

Chen is no stranger to success, having previously excelled at the National Secondary School Track and Field Elite Competition in Nanping, Fujian Province, in January 2025. There, he won the men's 200-meter sprint and secured second place in the 300-meter hurdles, breaking national records in both events. He is set to represent China again in the upcoming 200-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the U15 World Secondary School Summer Games, aiming to achieve even greater results on the international stage.(ZhongXin)
