From May 13th to 15th, the 7th Tea Culture Festival and“Agricultural Commercial Bank” Cup Famous Tea Tasting Event was held at Qinghe Park Square in Yueqing City. The event was attended by tea farmers, merchants, and experts, and displayed various types of tea, tea art, and tea-related activities.
Yueqing is the hometown of Chinese tea culture. The Yueqing Mountain region yields the famous Yan Dang Mao Feng tea, which has a history of over 1,600 years and is one of China's oldest tribute teas. In recent years, Yueqing's tea industry has grown considerably, with tea plantations covering 22,000 acres and a total output value of 150 million yuan. The Yan Dang Mao Feng tea has achieved numerous industry awards and remains highly regarded by tea experts.
The festival aims to promote Yueqing's tea industry, inviting tea-related companies to showcase their products and activities at the event. The Agricultural Commercial Bank Cup featured a panel of experts who judged the quality of tea based on five sensory indicators including soup color, aroma, taste, and shape. The event also included a self-service tea event where attendees brought their tea utensils and shared a brew.
As Yueqing seeks to become a hub of tea production and culture, the city's tea culture research association aims to continue promoting academic exchange and spreading tea culture through education and publicity campaigns.
