Recently, the first Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Wenzhou city’s project“the first nearly zero-energy power supply station (Qidu)” appeared as a case at the Expo.
The reporter learned from the Municipal Housing and Construction Bureau(MHCB) that the Qidu Power Supply Station is the first building in our city that built with the nearly zero-energy technology(NZET). It is also the first office building in our city that obtains the design and construction certifications of its kind, bridging the gap of nearly zero-energy buildings(NZEBs) in Wenzhou, even Zhejiang province. What’s more, it plays an exemplar role in guiding the development of NZEBs in our city.
In recent years, Wenzhou has placed great emphasis on achieving the"dual carbon goals" and has actively driven the transformation of urban and rural development towards a green, intensive, and ecological direction. The city has made significant efforts to increase the utilization of renewable energy buildings, facilitate the energy-saving transformation of existing buildings, and comprehensively promote green development in both urban and rural areas. Since 2022, Wenzhou has successfully implemented more than 170 megawatts of building-integrated solar energy photovoltaic installations, completed three NZEB projects, constructed over 120,000 square meters of ultra-low-energy buildings, and renovated more than 300,000 square meters of existing public buildings and over 280,000 square meters of existing residential buildings.
Last year, the MHCB, in collaboration with Wenzhou University of Technology (WZUT) and Zhejiang Province Institute of Architectural Design and Research, established the Wenzhou Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Institute (Architecture), which has effectively utilized the combined strengths of the government, industry, university, and institute to collectively promote the green and low-carbon development of the architectural sector. Numerous exemplary cases that have achieved the“dual carbon goals” have emerged. Notably, the renovation project of Rui’an City Hall compound and the project of Ouhai Louqiao construction muck recycling were selected by the Zhejiang Provincial Construction Department as outstanding examples of carbon peaking in the construction field in 2022. Furthermore, the renovation project of a NZEB for the teaching buildings of Binhai Campus of WZUT was recognized by Zhejiang Provincial Leading Group Office of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization as a typical case of green and low-carbon transformation in 2022.
Next, we will continue to promote carbon and energy consumption reduction in the construction field, improve the low-carbon construction mechanism, enhance the quality and service of green buildings and progressively expand the application of renewable energy in buildings. Through these efforts, we will fully advance the high-quality development of green, low-carbon buildings in our city. (ZhongXin)
